Losar Festival Tawang Arunachal Pradesh

Losar festival Tawang Arunachal Pradesh  is a New Year festival celebrated normally in the last part of February and early part of March every year with great solemnity and gaiety.  Losar  festival lasts for about eighth to fifteen days. During the festival a group of young people do perform Yak and Lion dances from door to door as mark of happiness. On the first day of Losar, in the early dawn, few members of the family go to stream or water tap to fetch a bucket of water.

Incense is offered at the water source, tie a scarf round the tap, Chang a local liquor and chemar are offered and recites prayers to appease the nagas and evil spirit. On reaching home they go to a chapel where lamps are lit and perform prayer for peace and harmony. Then hot chang mixed with looves and khabsay is served to every member of the family wishing happiness and prosperity in the New Year. Religious flags are also erected on the roof top of their houses during the festival
